Sunflare Vista (Mini Production)

A improvisation, enhanced with layers of production, stepping into full glory

This piece embodies the following formal structure: raw improvisation, enhanced ex post facto with accentuating layers of rhythm, harmony, & texture.

I don’t always know why I do what I do. Sometimes it’s pressure or incentives. Sometimes a vision I’ve set. But lately, I notice I’m living my life the way I play music.

When I’m on the violin, I don’t have to think. The notes arrive, each chosen with care, my body moving to support their voice. I could stop at any moment, but the best of what comes is always beyond my control.

One February morning, I woke up and felt called to pack my gear and head to Golden Gate Park. I wandered until I found a spot that felt right. I played until there was nothing left to play.

To live as improvisation is a strange freedom. Less polished, less curated—but more raw, more alive. Sometimes it feels like there’s nothing to say, and yet the words arrive. Structure and goals have their place. But I think we could all leap more often, and trust the music that plays through us.
